‘What happened to your grin?’ ask Alice perplexed. ‘If it starts disappearing along with your tail, there will be nothing left of you’.
‘It ‘s just that is not always to be seen’ answered the Cheshire cat sadly, ‘but you, you should rather look for your way, the sun is setting and you will be lost in the forest. My eyes don’t shine anymore and I won’t be able to see in the dark’.
‘How ‘s that?’ asked Alice curiously
‘Because I live about the outskirts of the wonderland’ said the Cheshire Cat vanishing quite slowly, beginning with the end of the tail, still ending with the grin, which remained some time after the rest of it had gone.

Enter the wonderland
Alice said “I wish you wouldn’t keep appearing and vanishing so suddenly; you make one quite giddy!”
“All right,” said the Cat; and this time it vanished quite slowly, beginning with the end of the tail, and ending with the grin, which remained some time after the rest of it had gone.
“Well! I’ve often seen a cat without a grin,” thought Alice; “but a grin without a cat! It’s the most curious thing I ever saw in all my life!”
